How to Watermark your Photos

As a blogger, I like to include at least one photo in each post but I also want to make sure that these photos are only used by me or with my permission.  I have found that the best way to do this is to watermark each photo before it is uploaded to my blog.

I have recently started offering logos/watermarks in my Etsy shop and have found that the easiest way to watermark photos is to turn the PNG file into a brush in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements.  This is very easy to do once you have the PNG file.

The first step is to start with PNG file that has a transparent background.  I have found that the brush works best if your words and images are black.  If you purchase a logo/watermark from me, this file will be included in your purchase.

Here is what I have been working on for my new watermark:

The next step is to go to your brush tool and then pick which brush category you want your new brush added to.  Whichever one is active is the one that your brush will be added to.  I have mine in Untitled Brushes.

Next go to the Edit menu and click on Define Brush...

Then you will name your brush.

Click OK.  When you click on your brushes, you will see your new brush added to the bottom.

The last step is to save this brush so that you can find it the next time you need to watermark a photo.  To do this, click on the double arrows to the right of your brushes and click on Save Brushes...

That's it!  You have a new brush to make watermarking your photos easy and because it is a brush, you can make it whatever color you want!  Here is a look at my new watermark in action!

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

Sunday Snapshot: Vintage Hoodie

This hooded sweatshirt is almost 30 years old.  It was given to me by my aunt when I was a baby and now it fits my daughter!  I love that my mom saved some of my baby clothes and that I can now put them on my own children.  I plan on keeping this sweatshirt with the hopes that it will make it on another generation some day!

The face she is making in the second picture is (according to my mom) a face that I used to make as well.  Like mother, like daughter?

Wordless Wednesday: A letter to my baby girl

You had just finished nursing and we were snuggled up on the couch under a blanket on a cool afternoon while Levi napped and you just fell asleep in my arms.  I couldn't move, you were so cozy and warm.  This doesn't happen very often anymore.  You are crawling everywhere at top speed, you are standing yourself up every chance you get and you are just starting to walk along the edge of the couch.  You enjoy this new
freedom but you do not like it when I leave your sight.  You are growing up so fast and I am trying to savor every moment of your babyhood.  You are a beautiful little girl and your smile lights up the room!  I am so proud to be your mommy and I am looking forward to all the fun things we will get to do together as you get older!  I love you baby girl!
