Little Green Pouch Review

I am not quite sure how I came across Little Green Pouches but I am so happy that I did!  When I found Little Green Pouches, they were still in the beginning phase and were not selling them yet.  I put my name on the mailing list so that I would be notified when they did start selling them because I LOVED the idea.  By the time I got that e-mail, I had grown this little blog a bit and so I decided to see if they would be willing to send me some pouches to try and then review here.  They were so responsive to the idea and I was sent a 4 pack of Little Green Pouches to try out and I can honestly say that we LOVE them!

Little Green Pouches are a reusable version of the food puree pouches that you can find in most grocery stores.  My kids both love those single use pouches and would eat them multiple times a day if they could.  I love that I can just throw a couple in my purse for quick, and most importantly healthy snacks for my kids on the go.  The thing that I don't like about the single use ones, is the cost.  At $1+ a piece and with 2 kids eating them, it can get pricey to have them eat them as often as they would like.

When Levi was little, I used to make food for him all the time.  He loved my purees and I loved knowing exactly what he was eating and how cheap it was to make it.  As he started to eat more solid food, I stopped making purees.  It was around that same time that I found the single use pouches.  We used those mostly for outings and for when he wouldn't eat anything else.  They quickly became one of his favorite snacks and now at 2 and a half, he requests them at least once a day.

When Lily started eating food, we went straight for the pouches because of their ease.  Lily learned how to feed herself with the pouches and we never even really needed a bib for her because it all went in her mouth.  It made life so much easier and cleaner!  My wallet, on the other hand, was not liking the fact that we were going through them so quickly.  Just a little math for you... 2 kids, 2 pouches a day each, 7 days a week = 28 pouches a week and at $1+ a pouch, we were spending $28 a week minimum just on pouches!!  Think about how many fruits and veggies you can buy with that amount of money.

Enter Little Green Pouches...

Little Green Pouches are reusable and have a zipper top for easy filling.  The zipper is strong enough that I do not have to worry about my kids getting them open and making a mess.  They are dish washer safe and the caps can be interchanged with the single use ones, which is nice if you happen to loose one (you can also buy replacement caps here).  We still had some single use pouches around so we saved the caps from them so that we would have back-ups.  The single use caps are all different colors so I am planning on picking a couple of colors for each child so that I know which pouch belongs to which child.

The minute I opened up the box, my son started asking for food in them, so while the kids were eating lunch I made a quick batch of applesauce, just apples and water.

They were easy to fill with the assistance of a small funnel and I was able to hang them in my fridge between the shelf and the inside wall.  My son could not wait to get his hands on one but first he had to wait for it to cool. His patience paid off though and he devoured the pouch in no time!  It was definitely a win in his book.  My 11 month old loved them too!  You can find other recipe ideas on the Little Green Pouch website (here).   I am looking forward to trying the Mainer Breakfast since I am a Mainer myself!

I will probably be buying another box of pouches because with 2 kids, I don't think 4 is going to be enough.  They are $14.99 for a box of 4, which considering what I was paying for the single use ones, is a great price!  I would not hesitate to recommend these to any of my mommy friends!  Even if you don't have kids, they can be used by athletes for a quick pick-me-up mid run, hike or bike without taking up a lot of space...think homemade energy gels! I can not say one bad thing about these pouches or the service I received!

Sunday Snapshot: My little cheerleader

I took these photos before the game even started but didn't really look at them until now, after the Pats lost.  I couldn't help but laugh at the expressions on my little cheerleaders face though.  Maybe she knew something that no one else did...

Oh well, there is always next year...

I Can See!

I am much better behind the camera than in front of it
So last fall, my crazy dog decided that it would be fun to eat my glasses.  I really only wear my glasses at night after I have taken my contacts out so when I am not wearing them, they live on my nightstand next to my bed.  I have kept them there since before we even had a dog.  I guess he was just bored and found something new to play with.  I needed a new pair (and a new prescription) anyway so it wasn't that big of a deal.  So I got my new prescription and glasses (which were over $100 and they were the cheapest ones I could find) and life continued as it always had.  Fast forward to about a month ago and it happened again...my dog ate my NEW glasses!  I was not happy!  I was NOT going to spend another $100 on glasses that I only wear for a short period of time at night, I decided to just live without for the time being.

About 2 weeks after this happened, I was contacted by Firmoo to review a pair of their glasses free of charge.  Crazy timing right?  Normally, I would be a bit skeptical of this offer, I was taught "if it seems too good to be true, it probably is", but the week before I received this e-mail I read a review by another blogger, that I had been following for a while, and she loved her new glasses, so I decided to try it out!

Firmoo's website is really easy to navigate and you can even upload a picture of yourself so that you can virtually try on any pair of glasses that you want.  Anyone who knows me, knows that I have an abnormally large head, so being able to virtually try on the glasses was a huge help.  I could see which ones would just be too small for my face.  Each pair of glasses has dimensions in the description as well and tell you which glasses work best with your measurements.  I ended up picking these ones.  I loved the little cut out detail at the edge of the glass.  It was easy to enter my prescription and place my order.  The shipping was quick and I had my order within a week!

I love them!  They fit great and most importantly, I CAN SEE!  It's nice to be able to watch TV in bed again without having to get up to take my contacts out.  The style is a bit different for me but that's ok, change is good!  They came with a nice soft case, a cleaning cloth, a 2-in-1 glasses tool (small double ended screwdriver) and a couple of spare screws!

You can get your first pair of glasses for FREE, you just have to pay shipping!  You can get both prescription and non prescription glasses as well as sunglasses at Firmoo.  You even can get a refund/exchange if you are not satisfied with them.  Click here to get your free glasses now!

Wordless Wednesday: Flashback

I love that Lily was born with so much hair and that it has just continued to grow!  This is her first official ponytail and I love it and hate it at the same time.  She looks so cute but at the same time she looks so much older to me!  I am not ready for her to grow up, she is my last baby :(  I can't believe that she is almost 1.

The pink OshKosh B'Gosh overalls that she has on are almost 30 years old, they were mine when I was her age!  I love dressing her in clothes that I once wore, I'm so glad my mom saved some.

On another note, I have just recently discovered BlogLovin' and I would love a few more followers! Thanks in advance!  Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Sunday Snapshot: Twisted Metal

This weekend, I went for my first snowmobile ride in probably 3 years and we snowmobiled to a site I had been wanting to visit for about as many years.

On January 24, 1963 a B-52 crashed in the Maine woods.  The remains of the aircraft are still there.  The site serves as a tribute to those who serve their country and a memorial to the 7 people who lost their lives there.  It was a neat site to visit and the fresh snow on top of the twisted metal provided quite the contrast.

This is the sign posted at the site:

This is the memorial stone that was placed at the site in 1998:

All photos were taken with my Nikon D3100 with a 35mm 1.8 lens
and were edited with Photoshop Elements.

Making Memories of Us

Four years ago today, I said "I do" to my best friend!  Every time I hear our song, I am taken back to this moment and nothing can erase the smile from my face!

Wordless Wednesday: New Planner

As a start to my One Little Word for the year, I am going to focus on creating organization today.

Over the last month, I have realized that in order for my blog to grow, I need to be more organized.

Between family time, household responsibilities, my blog and my Etsy shop, I realized that I needed to be more productive and deliberate with my time and in order to do that I need to do a bit more planning.

I decided to use some of the money I had made from my Etsy shop to buy myself a beautiful 2013 planner!  I had been eyeing the Plum Paper Designs planners on Etsy for a little while but wasn't sure if I really wanted to spend that much on a planner when I could easily get a cheaper one at my local Staples.  I am so glad that I decided to go ahead and get one though, it is beautiful and I am so excited to use it over the next year!

This planner is set up with a laminated tab for each month and each month starts with a notes page followed by a two page monthly spread.  After the month overview, there is a two page spread for each week of the month.  I love that on the weekly pages, the days are broken up into morning, afternoon and evening.  Since I am a stay-at-home mom, my days are not planned out by the hour but instead by blocks of time, so this is perfect!  There is plenty of space to write what I need to write in each of those time slots and there is even a small checklist at the end of each day.  On the left hand side of the page is a weekly checklist, along with a small monthly view.  The rest of the planner is rounded out with a 2013 calendar at the beginning and a 2014 calendar at the end.  Right before the 2014 calendar is one page that holds information for 16 contacts.  The very last thing in this planner is a small "for keeps" pocket for any loose papers or business cards you might have.

I could not be happier with my purchase and hope that it continues to keep me on track and more organized!

*I was in no way compensated for this post, I just love my new planner!
